"This last model is really
interesting, because it explodes a myth that's common in the bike
industry. That myth is about unified biked, and says that if your crank
is attached to the same piece as the rear wheel, then there can be no
affect on your pedal stroke This simply isn't true. Particularly on
bikes where the pivot is between your pedal force and the rear wheel.
When that's the case, when you put a downward force at the pedal, you
cause the rear wheel to want to rise. That means some of your pedal
force is going into compressing the rear suspension, and simultaneously,
that force is inhibiting a free rebound of your wheel. So a design like
this cannot be fully active, by the way we define a fully active
